SSTC Hosted First TVET EKSPO 2019 in Sabah

Sabah Skills & Technology Centre hosted the first Jelajah TVET and Ekspo Kolej Vokasional (KV) for Sabah Zone on 13th November 2019 at its centre in KKIP Sepangar; jointly organized by JawatanKuasa Kabinet Pemerkasaan TVET (JKKPTVET) and Task Force Khas Kolej Vokasional (TFKhasKV), Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE).

The event received more than 400 visitors from the public and industries. 8 Vocational Colleges in Sabah including Labuan Vocational College and other TVET related institutions and agencies such as Polytechnic Kota Kinabalu, Institute Latihan Perindustrian, Gain for Life, Aseana International College, Winabumi Sdn Bhd and FMM Sabah Branch were also part of the exhibition.

Jelajah TVET and Ekspo Kolej Vokasional (KV) Zon Sabah was graced by Datuk Dr. Amin bin Senin, Director General of Education Malaysia, Ministry of Education. Also present at the opening ceremony were Dr. Habibah Binti Abdul Rahim, Deputy Director-General Ministry of Education Malaysia, Datuk Boonler Somchit, Advisor of TFKhasKV, YB Senator Tuan Adrian Lasimbang who is also a member of TFKhasKV and Datuk John Choo, Deputy Chairman of Sabah Skills & Technology Centre.

Discussions between the industries and Vocational Colleges and presentations from each of the Vocational Colleges were also held at the centre. The findings from the discussion will be further discussed in the TFKhasKV to implement competitive structures and mechanisms for TVET.

The 1-day event was filled with interactive demonstrations and exhibition from the Vocational Colleges, a mini career fair, and selling activities from TVET Entrepreneurs as part of the national campaign to promote TVET Programs.
