SSTC HOLDS 25TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND ELECTS NEW MANAGEMENT COUNCIL

Kota Kinabalu – Sabah Skills & Technology Centre (SSTC) successfully held its 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26th June 2025 at its premises, with 50 invited guests in attendance. The attendees comprised representatives from 28 Founder and Ordinary Member Companies of SSTC, Ex-Officio members, auditors, and SSTC’s management team.

The AGM saw the re-election of Datuk John Choo of Ken Chong Food Industries Sdn. Bhd. as Chairman, and Tuan Haji Sumardi Mohd Yusof of Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn. Bhd. as Deputy Chairman, both winning uncontested.

In his welcome remarks, Datuk John Choo reflected on the challenges faced in 2024, particularly the absence of federal training allocations, which placed immense pressure on SSTC’s operations.

“The lack of federal government funding forced us to rethink, restructure, and adapt with limited resources. Many planned initiatives had to be scaled back, but our commitment to learning never wavered,” he said.

“We remain focused on ensuring that learners whether upskilling, transitioning careers, or seeking personal growth are not left behind, especially in this era of AI.”

He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the supporters of SSTC’s 25th Anniversary Charity Dinner, held in December last year, noting that their generosity made a meaningful difference in sustaining training programmes for disadvantaged youth.

The AGM also marked the election of five (5) new Management Council members:

  • KKIP Sdn. Bhd.
  • Nippon Paint (Sabah) Sdn. Bhd.
  • Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
  • Steel Industries (Sabah) Sdn. Bhd.
