SSTC CONVOCATION 2022

Sabah Skills & Technology Centre (SSTC) held its Convocation Ceremony at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Kota Kinabalu on 16th June 2022 to celebrate 367 graduates who have completed their programs in year 2021. The event was graced by Yang Berhormat Datuk Hj. Yakub Khan, Minister of Science Technology and Innovation Sabah.

Amongst the programs involved were the Golongan Pekerja & Future Workers (GPFW) programs for School Leavers in;

  • Diploma in Culinary Arts Batch 28 & 29 certified by City & Guilds, UK
  • Shielded Metal Arch Welding Batch 15 & 16 certified by SIRIM – American Welding Society
  • The Malaysian Skills Certificate for Oil Palm Plantation Operation & Supervision Batch 11 by Department of Skills Development.

For the Golongan Pekerja & Future Workers (GPFW) programs for Graduates were;

  • Drone Technology Program Batch 1 certified by Asia Drone & IoT Technologies.
  • NDT Inspection Program Batch 13 certified by Malaysia Institute Non-Destructive Testing (MINDT).
  • Safety & Health Officer Batch 39 & 40 certified by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Malaysia
  • MICE Event Management Batch 8 – Accredited program by National Open College Network (NOCN) UK
  • Retail Management Batch 24 & 25 – Accredited program by National Open College Network (NOCN), UK
  • Retail Management Batch 1 and 2 program funded by Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (YPPB)
  • Online Entrepreneurship Management Batch 1 and 2 program funded by Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp)
  • OMNI Channel Strategy & E-Commerce Batch 1 and 2 program funded by Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA)

Programs offered at SSTC are funded by agencies under the Federal & State government. The objective of the programs offered is to continuously develop a holistic human capital among the youth. The marketability of SSTC graduates up until 2021 is 90-95 per cent.

Amir Khusyairi bin Arif who pursued his dream to open his own pastry business, was chosen to receive the Student Award in this convocation ceremony. The Law Graduate from Mara University of Technology (UiTM) followed his passion and continued his study in Culinary Arts at SSTC. Upon completing his program, he started his small pastry business from home and received overwhelming orders and supports from his customers and founded the Qush Gourment Cupcakes & More.

The ceremony was attended by more than 200 invitees. Also present during the ceremony were SSTC Council Members & Ex-Officios, Ministry Agencies Training Partners, Industry Partners, and parents of the graduates.

SSTC aspires to actively provide the best of skills training available to meet current needs and strengthen the knowledge and skills level of the State’s workforce.
