CERTIFICATE PRESENTATION CEREMONY FOOD HANDLING PROGRAM SPONSORED BY THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION SABAH STATE (KITCHEN OFFSHORE) TRAINING CEREMONY.
Kota Kinabalu – On 25 October 2024, the Sabah Skills & Technology Centre (SSTC) in KKIP hosted a Certificate of Presentation Ceremony for the Food Handling (Offshore Kitchen) Program. Sponsored by the Sabah Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, the event was officiated by Mrs. Cornelia binti Gregory Kolopis Han, Chief Assistant Senior Secretary of the Science Planning & Cultivation Division, representing Datuk Mohd Hanafiah bin Mohd Kassim, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 25 trainees from various districts across Sabah, including Papar, Kudat, and Ranau, who successfully completed the inaugural month-long program. The training offered a comprehensive blend of theoretical and practical modules, covering key areas such as food handling, catering services, and cuisine preparation, including Western and Asian dishes, patisserie, and bakery skills. Additionally, the curriculum included Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and critical offshore safety training, equipping graduates to thrive in offshore kitchen roles.
With their certifications, the graduates are now well-prepared for the workforce, and several companies have already expressed interest in hiring them for offshore placements within Sabah and Sarawak. SSTC expressed hope that this program will continue to provide high-impact technical and vocational training (TVET), empowering more youth with essential skills and boosting their career prospects in the industry.
